The Ark: Where and When in the Bible?
Biblical location: The flood account is in Genesis, first book of the bible, chapters 6-9 (scripture at the bottom of the page)
Timeline location: Tanak (Old Testament) is the 4,000 years before Messiah. Based on the chronology in the bible, the flood occurred approximately 2,350 BC or 1,650 years before Messiah was born. Noah and his family were on the ark for approximately 1 year.
Biblical Real Estate: The account of Flood makes up less than 1% of the biblical text (97 of the approximately 31,000 total verses).

There is no archeologic evidence for the ark used by Noah of the biblical text.

The Flood was an historical event and the ark rests some 15 miles south of Mt. Ararat in eastern Turkey (it slid).
Could the Ark Have Been Preserved?
"On June 20, 1987, the Turkish government officially recognized the discovery of the remains of Noah’s Ark in eastern Turkey with the dedication of Noah’s Ark National Park. Nashvillian Ron Wyatt, an amateur archaeologist, was guest of honor at the ceremony, credited as the “discoverer” because it was his persistence throughout the years which finally resulted in the evidence which convinced the Turkish authorities of the authenticity of the site. Ron didn’t “discover” the site. He read about it in a 1960 “Life Magazine” article which told of an American archaeological team that investigated the site in 1960 and pronounced it “of no archaeological interest.” This article led to his profound belief that the site “most likely” contained the remains of Noah’s Ark, a belief which was confirmed 17 years later when he first saw it in person." (ref 1). "The discovery of the Ark is amazing and a miracle in it's own right. It would be foolish to expect a 4,300 year old wooden ship to remain intact today, unless it was buried in the hot, dry sands of Egypt, like Cheops' sun boat. It could not be expected to survive at all in the extreme seasons present in the Ararat region, if it were left exposed to the elements all these years. The wood would have long ago rotted and the metal fittings would have oxidized. But protected in the lava flow, its presence was preserved in timbers turned to stone. Then, the simple outline of its shape was the only clue to its nature in the 1950s. At that time, no evidence was visible or understood. In 1978, the small earthquake dropped the soil from around its sides, revealing on one side, empty holes where rib timbers had fragmented and fallen away after suffering "frost wedging." On the other side, rib timbers which remained in place in the earth, but which are still fragmented, could be seen by the color difference between them and the surrounding soil. Its length is exactly 300 royal Egyptian cubits, or 515 feet, the only cubit Moses would have known. The "Hebrew" cubit was of varying lengths at different times, and wouldn't come into use for many years after Genesis was written." ABOUT RON WYATT: "An anesthetist by vocation, Ron became interested in archaeology, history and all the sciences at the age of 15. His ventures into actual field work in the Middle East began in 1977 (at the age of 44). His interest in archaeology was the direct result of his profound belief in the total accuracy of the Biblical account. His own study had led him to conclude that many of the commonly accepted locations of Biblical sites were incorrect. He firmly believed that these remains have all been preserved and hidden by the Hand of God until this time in earth’s history to provide evidence of His Truth in the last days. Why was Ron “chosen” to make all these discoveries? He believed that it was humanly “impossible” for one person to find all of these discoveries, no matter how “smart” or “educated” they may be, and therefore, in using someone average and without “professional” training, God ensured that people would know that these discoveries are “of God” and not man. And although some “leaders” and “educated men” have fought to keep these evidences from the World, the discoveries are daily accomplishing the work that the Lord meant for them to. The simplicity of the evidences of each discovery doesn’t require that anyone seek out the “experts” to tell them if it is real or not. Sadly Ron died on August 5 1999. His only desire was to bring people to Salvation, to Jesus Christ. He would always stress the importance of becoming a follower of Jesus Christ and obeying His Commandments. Ron was a devout Bible student & a extremely humble man."
